What a fabulous weekend was had by all attending, super weather and a great haul of trophies. Reasonable camping for the large number of club members who stayed on site - reasonable that is apart from an inconsiderate group from another club who thought singing into the small hours was a good idea.

We all owe a huge thanks to Nick for the transporting of boats to and from the event and to both Nick and Lindsey for keeping the team on course (no pun intended).

A reminder to anyone who owes the small contribution toward the fuel Nick used (money collected by Carol over the weekend) please pay ASAP (£1 per seat) direct to Nick or Lindsey.

Wins on Saturday

Men’s intermediate 2 coxless 4: Matthew Harden, Gordon Johncox, Henk de Lange, Peter Holland.
Men’s veteran D coxless pair: Matthew and Gordon again
Men’s intermediate 3 double scull: Andy Tubb and Pete Holloway (in an all BOARC final)
Men’s intermediate 3 coxless pair: Henk de Lange and Peter Holland

Toby Cambray got into the final of the men’s novice singles, as did our four in the men’s novice coxed four.

Wins on Sunday

Men’s intermediate 3 double scull: Andy Tubb and Pete Holloway (in an all BOARC final).
Men’s intermediate 3 single scull: Henk de Lange.
Men’s novice coxed.
Women’s intermediate 3 double scull Rebecca George and Krissie Haigh (in an all BOARC final).

Rebecca George got into the final of the women’s novice singles, the boys were in the final of the J13 coxed quad and the eight was in the final of the mixed intermediate 2 eights.

Juniors

We had a very small contingent of juniors. No wins but a great effort against very strong opposition. Of our two day eventers: Alexander Manley-Le Flaive was very unlucky to have an encounter with a tree in his Junior 15 singles race on Saturday (one of his many races) but still came very close to winning. Alexander also had the pleasure of coxing the mixed eight on Sunday where they were narrowly beaten. Tamsin Brewer was up against a very strong field of 8 on Saturday and 13 on Sunday in the Women’s Junior 13 x1, she narrowly lost her heat on Saturday but won her first heat on Sunday by 4 lengths, losing in the next round to the girl who went on to convincingly win the whole event. Jacob sculled very courageously both days, winning his heat on Sunday in the Junior 12 x1 event, and now has knowledge of the high standards to aspire to. On Sunday unfortunately there was not room on the trailer for the Jim Brown junior quad boat, so the boys had to share a boat with the women’s team. The boys (Jacob Metz, Alex and Myles Taylor, Alex Linham) coxed by Tamsin were only defeated by two and a half lengths by a crew a year older than them, as they had to go up an age group into the Junior 13 x4 +, so a very good effort.

A big thank you to the numerous BOARC members who turned up on Tuesday to unload - 16 boats unloaded rigged and put away in an hour - great teamwork.
